From the source... Steve Cohn was the only council member to take budget staff to task on the lack of documentation provided in the first budget workshop.  He was particularily concerned for the lack of detail on the budget overrun of the Police Department.  Staff's interest in taking Cohn "off-line" for covering those important detail should concern us.

Steve missed several important issues when he talked about smaller districts.  Didn't happen in his midtown neighborhoods.  He also is missing the fact that patrol shortages are often filled by officers not familiar with our neighborhoods.  I haven't seen our NPO in 18 months.  I found him backfilling in the paddy-wagon last week.  Our District Patrol Officer has also vacated the neighborhood, taking a vacant slot in the wagon.

You have to be totally out of touch to think patrol has time for NPO functions when operations is 83 position down.  Not 44, and surely not the 14 Chief Venegas reported to the media.
